Réinventer les régions de France pour revivifier la citoyenneté

Abstract : As early as the 19th century, many authors considered France's strong centralization to be unsuitable. However, it was not until the second half of the 20th century that France established regions, two-thirds of whose names have a historical filiation, showing a resurgence of the old provinces through their names. However, by a law of 2015, mergers decided without consultation by the central government resulted in the abolition of nine regions. Were these mergers well founded? Did they not create a divorce with the realities of the territories? Doesn't it undermine the proper exercise of a citizenship that presupposes rooting in a geography?
